A professional training seminar for counselors.
First responders pose unique challenges in the counseling office. However, working with this population can be extremely rewarding as the counselor helps those who help others. Learn how to relate, communicate, identify issues, and treat effectively when working with first responders. Develop an understanding of the cultural differences, learn how to work through them, and experience a feeling of success as you see your first responder clients grow, change, and heal.
Part 1 is for any counselor, social worker, pastor, etc., who wants to better relate to first responders. Part 2 is only available for EMDR trained clinicians who want specialized EMDRIA credit. Those who take part 2 will need to take part 1 as well.
Learning Objectives:

Understand the significance of developing an awareness of the cultural difference.

Understand similarities and differences between the culture of the counselor and that of the first responder.

Apply knowledge regarding the differences between the types of first responders.

Assess one's own readiness in working with this specialized population.

Identify the common presenting problems of first responders and their families.

Develop strategies to treat first responders and their families.
This is an online event. In order to receive CEs, participant must have working camera on and be visible for the entirety of the event.

Trauma Informed Care/Counseling
Using EMDR, Brainspotting, and Parts Work
A professional training seminar for counselors.
Course has been approved by NBCC for NBCC credit.
At least 6 out of 10 males, and 5 out of 10 females, have experienced trauma in their lives. Research shows that these traumas have been associated with 8 out of the 10 leading causes of death. Trauma increases the risk for suicidal ideation, mental health diagnoses, drug abuse, multiple health issues, and impaired relational connection.
This training will help you identify trauma, build your understanding of its impact physically, emotionally, and spiritually, and learn the types of therapies that have the greatest positive impact for clients. Learn ways to calm the brain, and contain and deal with trauma.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Develop an understanding of the types of trauma.

Learn the science behind the impact of trauma.

Learn about the different types of treatment for trauma.

Learn the science behind , the research based outcomes of, and some techniques used in brainspotting.

Learn the language, the research, and some techniques of parts work, using primarily the IFS model. Develop an understanding of EMDR and its 8 phases, Learn how the 8 phases can be applied with clients.

Learn how each of the above models can be used together fluidly as you titrate to the needs of your clients.

Be able to implement calming and containment strategies.
